Art by Davey, who was heavily influenced by his mother who danced until her 60s, began his dance career in New York City in 1982, beginning his formal dance training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance School, majoring in Jazz and Dunham.  Within his first year, he was asked to join the Joan Peters Dunham Company and performed at the Riverside Church Theater and Museum of Natural History.  After several years in Dunham his transition turned to African, majoring in Djembe, Ivory Coast  and later Sabar styles and performed in Dance Africa in 1995 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Mamadoue Dahoue Dance Company (Ivory Coast style) and City College with the Lamine Thiam Sabar Dance Company.  His next transition of ethnic styles then led to Flamenco with the Jodi Romano Student Group, and Kathak with Bhavni, then finally to Middle Eastern dance with the Kaeshi Chai and Amar Gamal Student Group with an appearance on the Morning Show, Graham Norton Show, and Bellyqueen DVD Jam Video, and then finally to the Dalia Carella Dance Collective with past performances including:  The Lucille Lortel Theater, The New 42nd Street Duke Theater, Adelphi University, PS.122, LaMaMa, and the new Alvin Ailey Theater.  With his Middle Eastern dance skills he was able to showcase his talents in the Bollywood film "JO BOLE SO NIHAL".  As of 2010, he is now only a solo performer and currently working a new conceptualized multi-media dance project entitled, "The Red Lion" inspired by the traditional dance styles of NOH and Kabuki Theater.  His dance works are all known for their intensity, ethnic dance mixture, theatrical visual and cabaret styled effects.
