Art by Davey Factory
began photography stemming from a grade school class elective taken at an early age, and also inspired by the Kodak 8mm films
taken by his father during the 1970s. Art by Davey states, "I was always amazed by the creation of movies
and still shots from that period of time in my life". I would watch the films over and over again".
It was not until the mid 1990s that he purchased his first 35mm camera, and began to photograph the many characters and
events that ran through his life. Art by Davey states, "I was always drawn to color since my early childhood,
both in my own personal style but also in what I photographed as well; in addition, since I was heavily involved in dance,
I knew how important movement was to an image...there is something magical about capturing a certain moment in time".
Since the mid 1990's, Art by Davey has been photographing many cultural, nightlife and fashion events through out the
New York City and beyond. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Manhattan Magazine, AJIT Weekly Newspaper,
the books: September 11 Photo Project, and SEX in New York City, and also the Harlem Drag Ball Documentary, "HOW
DO I LOOK"! Currently, all new photography is now showcased on Art by Davey Factory's webste and Facebook
page!
